Although Fredericksburg is known for hosting lots of great events, it is hard to beat the city’s amazing concerts. Along with more formal indoor shows are numerous outdoor concerts, many of them free and family-friendly. For something relaxing, take a friend or your family to one of these great concerts.

Sounds of Summer 2017

The Sounds of Summer 2017 is returning from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4th, and then again Aug. 11th. You and family or friends can enjoy an evening filled with music.

Not only are children admitted into the concert free, they also will have fun doing the arts and crafts. On Aug. 4th, The Acoustic Onion, a classic rock group, will play some outstanding Beatles music. Then on Aug. 11th, the Blue Tips Rhythm Revue will be the entertainment. Along with Motown, this band performs old school soul classics. All the way around, this is an excellent way to enjoy your time in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Celebrate Virginia After Hours

On Aug. 12th, you can see The Charlie Daniels Band live in concert at Celebrate Virginia After Hours. Even at age 81, he still performs as if back in his heyday. Although the band is known for Gospel, Bluegrass, and Country songs, their most famous song is “The Devil Came Down from Georgia,” in which Charlie Daniels put some real heat to his violin playing. Just like the band’s 2015 “40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam” concert, the Aug. 12th concert is expected to sell out, so you want to get your tickets early.

Bluemont

In the early part of August, the Bluemont will feature two artists, Pan Masters and Dixie Power Trio. On Aug. 5th, the Pan Masters Steel Orchestra is a concert not to miss. This orchestra wows the crowd with incredible dancing and music played on exotic island instruments. Along with more traditional reggae, they also perform soca and island calypso. Then on Aug. 12th, you can get tickets to see the Dixie Power Trio. This group has an eclectic mix of music, including Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans jazz.
