Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon 2017

The historic streets of Fredericksburg serve as the course for the annual late springtime Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon, which marks its 9th annual running this year on May 21st, and usually brings more than 7,500 runners out to the streets of this northern Virginia city each spring.

Runners pound the pavement through the streets, city blocks and neighborhoods of Old Town Fredericksburg, which give the race a completely different feel as well as plenty of new scenery and attractions for runners and spectators in town for the entire race weekend. From the starting line at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center on the Carl D. Silver Parkway, the out-and-back course for the race takes runners south along the parkway and then east on Cowan Boulevard, passing over Interstate 95 on the way into the Old Town section of Fredericksburg.

Healthy Life Expo

At the Healthy Lifestyle Expo, Historic Half Weekend participants pick up their packets including the official bib with timing device, competitor shirt and event program. Runners and supporters stop by selfie spots, meet celebrity guests, hear from experts in Speaker Square and visit over 60 vendor booths covering a range of fitness activities, wellness products and active interests.

All Historic Half Weekend participants are required to attend Packet Pick-up, located within the Healthy Lifestyle Expo.

Semper 5ive

On the same morning as the Marine Corps Historic Half, the Semper 5ive starts in downtown Fredericksburg, scales Hospital Hill and crosses the same finish as the Half. Finishers receive a medals. All participants get a technical shirt and commemorative bib. Registration is $40.

Devil Dog Double

The only thing more motivating than conquering Hospital Hill in Fredericksburg, VA as part of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon is scaling it twice in one morning. Runners will have double the challenge and twice the opportunity to scale the 200-foot continuous incline located on the Marine Corps Historic Half and Semper 5ive courses. The Devil Dog Double, a one day, two event combination with three medals. Participants must complete the 5ive with a nine minute-per-mile pace or better. Registration fee is $85. The Devil Dog Double is sold out.
