S’mores: The rich dessert that millions of people crave. Consisting of melted gooey chocolate and marshmallow sandwiched between two graham crackers, s’mores are so delicious that you’ll want to eat it while it’s still hot! You might have great memories of eating s’mores while camping. However, you can enjoy an upscale experience when you celebrate National S’mores Day near Fredericksburg, Virginia this year. On August 10th, take advantage of the perfect excuse for devouring this incredible treat. National S’more Day is upon us!

Bonfire
If you feel up to a day trip, take some of your friends to Leechburg, Pennsylvania. This area is roughly a three-hour drive from Fredericksburg, VA, but you definitely won’t be disappointed once you arrive at your destination. In honor of National S’mores Day, the chef at Bonfire Restaurant will whip up two incredible s’mores-inspired desserts. Instead of traditional s’more like the ones you had as a child, Bonfire features two upscale versions.
The first is an ice cream sandwich with honey-lavender ice cream and lemon shortbread. The second has graham crackers, bananas, blackberries, peaches, marshmallows, and chocolate sauce. Both just $8 each. If you have trouble making up your mind, you can order one dessert and your friend the other, then share.
S’mores Party Time
Rather than have a housewarming, painting, or candle party, set August 10th aside for hosting a s’mores party with a group of friends. You can celebrate by making s’mores at home!
All you need are miniature or regular size graham crackers, milk chocolate candy bars (broken into squares), and marshmallows. Heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, on a cookie sheet, place a layer of graham crackers with the chocolate and marshmallows on top. Bake the s’mores until the marshmallow starts to get puffy and a beautiful golden brown. This usually takes 4 to 5 minutes.
If you feel brave, you can get creative by adding peanut butter to the mix. Another option is to swap out graham crackers for fudge-dipped cookies, or replace the milk chocolate candy bars with chocolate peanut butter cups. The possibilities are endless!
